WeChat Pay releases Ringgit e-wallet for cashless payment in Malaysia

It has been confirmed that WeChat Pay will launch in Malaysia, June 2018 before Raya Aidilfitri. Malaysia will be the very first country outside of China to have the e-wallet localised for ringgit. To prep for the Hari Raya festive season, various companies has already been working with WeChat Pay to allow use of this new mobile payment mode. UnionPay QR code payment will soon be available in hawker centres

UnionPay International (UPI) had partnered LiquidPay, both members of SG QR taskforce, to allow UPI mobile payment app users to make payment at LiquidPay group of merchants. The partnership will see the 2 parties piloting the service at hawker centres currently already on the LiquidPay app,such as Maxwell Food Centre, Amoy Street Food Centre and Bedok 85 Market. Other LiquidPay’s merchants will also be onboard by 3rd quarter this year.
