Lianhe Zaobao (联合早报) ventures into WeChat through partnership with FOMO Pay

Lianhe Zaobao (联合早报) is Singapore’s largest-circulating Chinese-language newspaper, with a daily average circulation of 187,900 people (statistics from August 2015).

Published by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), the daily has been in production since 1983 and has been the main source of news for many Chinese readers around the world due to its high quality content. Aside from Singapore, Lianhe Zaobao is also circulated in other cities such as Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai. In fact, it is ranked as the top 10 news websites in China.

Lianhe Zaobao has ventured into WeChat – its latest move to cater to the needs of its Chinese readers. Through the collaboration with FOMO Pay as its official payment partner, Lianhe Zaobao is able to offer Chinese preferred payment options such as WeChat Pay, AliPay, China Union Pay and Visa Mastercard.

Given that WeChat Pay and AliPay are the market leaders in China’s mobile payment industry, this move is likely to increase Lianhe Zaobao’s subscription rates and boost its reach.
